XYLØ: L.A. Love Song

XYLØ is an American indie pop duo formed by Paige and Chase Duddy and currently based in Los Angeles. They just released their debut single called “L.A. Love Song” and it’s quite brilliant. Between a Hollywood dramatic line and a fresh trip hop, electropop sound, the duo’s style reminds as good as other great artists like Broods, Purity Ring, Ryn Weaver or even the one and only Lana Del Rey. The duo is currently working on its upcoming debut EP, scheduled to be released sometime this year, for now we can enjoy this rather opaque and magical debut track.

XYLØ: L.A. Love Song

“I wanna know, if this life will be the death of me, baby,” asks Paige Duddy to nobody in particular, backed by plaintive piano, and drum licks crispier than an explosion at the Walkers factory. Searing guitars roll in around the edges like a lighter held to paper, and ‘L.A. Love Song’ departs on a wave of muddied, yearning synthesiser.

XYLØ: L.A. Love Song Lyrics:
ice cold, heart is like a cool box
so grab another light beer baby,
inhale, breathing getting harder,
OD on you again,

late night, sun is getting higher
red, white, feeling blue, baby
blood shot, head’s a little lighter
OD on you again,

we’re all living in the gutter,
but some of us are looking at the stars
live fast, leave a pretty body,
lay it next to me

i wanna know, i wanna know
if this life will be the death of me baby
know, i gotta know,
is this love?

tongue tied, speaking so softly,
come a little closer to me,
late night, in the back of the taxi,
i think that i love you

nothing like, the sun in california
it burns through the skin and
deep breath, you know i tried to warn you,
OD on me again,

we’re all looking at the gutter,
but some of us are living with the stars and
die young, leave a pretty body,
i’ll lay it next to you

i wanna know, i wanna know
if this life will be the death of me baby
know, i gotta know,
is this love?

are you alive or
are you just living?
some of us
are looking at the stars

are you alive or
are you just living?
lay next to me

i wanna know, i wanna know
if this life will be the death of me baby
know, i gotta know,
is this love?
