le destroy – Knives
Written and Produced by Kristina Olson. Mixed and Mastered by Kevin “OnenO” Hastings.
Lyrics – “Knives”
If I should fall
If I should fall
If I should fall
If I should fall, don’t let them wake me up
If I should fall, don’t let them cut me up
With knives so dull
They cut you up to wear you out, out, out, out
They cut you up to bring you down, down, down
With knives so dull
With knives so dull, they cut you up, with knives so dull
With knives so dull, they cut you up, with knives so dull
If I should fall, don’t let them wake me up
If I should fall, don’t let them cut me up
With knives so dull
They cut you up to break you down, down, down, down, down
They cut you up to bleed you out, out, out
With knives so dull
With knives so dull, they cut you up, with knives so dull
With knives so dull, they cut you up, with knives so dull
If I should fall, if I should fall
If I should fall, if I should fall
If I should fall, if I should fall
If I should fall, if I should fall
(They cut you up with knives so dull)
They cut you up to break you down, down, down, down, down
They cut you up to bleed you out, out, out
With knives so dull
With knives so dull, they cut you up, with knives so dull
With knives so dull, they cut you up, with knives so dull
If I should fall
If I should fall
If I should fall
If I should fall
They cut you up with knives so dull.
A rocker from Austin, Texas, who embodies D.I.Y. Industrial/Post-Punk production, le destroy fearlessly delivers riveting lyrics with a sultry swagger provoking emotion using aggression, rich tones, and moody hooks. Kristina Olson, Creator/Producer of all things le destroy, has been in the studio since 2017 crafting the sound and creative direction of le destroy. “When I started this project I wanted to be open minded about my approach and not be married to a specific sound or end goal. I just wanted to create and see what happens”, says Olson. le destroy isn’t the first music project for this industry veteran, she’s the former founder/frontwoman of Kristina and The Dolls (previously the Paper Dolls).
Indeed, le destroy is stoking Olson’s creative fire as she mesmerizes listeners with her hauntingly serpentine like vocals on “Knives” (off the upcoming EP, Slaughter). “It’s my passion to create and share compelling art that pushes people think and feel, even if it’s uncomfortable. There’s a lot of music these days, especially in the alternative rock genre, that feels very safe to me and its lack of depth is hard to digest. I miss the sonic danger and rage.”
The second release off the slaughter EP entitled “Nous Detruisons” (french for “we destroy”), is a merciless commentary on the state of the world and the decay of social fibers under the current media outlets, social or otherwise, and the powers that be. If you, like Olson, miss the sonic danger and rage, then you’re in luck. Nous Detruisons does not disappoint.
le destroy will be releasing the debut EP by the end of 2018. No live shows are currently on the schedule as Olson’s finishing up work in the studio. “I love the live energy and aspect of music. I’m very focused on wrapping up work in the studio before I switch gears, but I can’t wait to start playing live again.” Prior to her work with le destroy, Olson played festivals such as the Sunset Strip Music Festival (with bands such as the Smashing Pumpkins) and the Sundance Film Festival (opening for Macy Gray). For now, fans will have to wait for Olson’s jarringly energetic live performances while she wraps up work in the studio.
