Lanks – Aurelia

LANKS is the enigmatic solo project of Melbourne musician, Will Cuming. It is a mature new project that has allowed him to play freely with traditional folk storytelling within a modern framework; taking parts from Radiohead’s intricate grooves, Bon Iver’s vocal layering and Jamie XX’s famed dead space. In 2014 LANKS has dropped his debut EP, Thousand Piece Puzzle, played BIGSOUND, supported the likes of The Acid, Broods, and The Griswolds, and received strong support from radio stations Fbi, Triple J and PBS. His debut EP is a collection of songs that rises and falls in pictures and words, a project that combines cinematic soundscapes with electronic beats and evocative vocal narratives.

He has recently dropped the first follow-up single after the EP, Brave Man, offering a more refined sound, contrasting atmospheric synths with percussive guitars, and glitchy electronic drums with his distinctly laconic, effortless vocals. Although LANKS is a solo venture, with the 24-year-old writing, performing and recording the EP using guitars, synthesizers, samples and flutes over an intensive three month period, the live sets expand to include three other band members.

Lanks – Aurelia

Lanks – Aurelia Lyrics:
Walking in the trees in the evening
Shadows of the open in my mind
The heaven that shows my freedom
Somehow it spins locked in
I send them from a coastal world
The dragon rocks cutting as I come
Fading as I suffer from
Whisper to it where I am

I start when the morning comes
For the morning never felt so bright
Do you ever really feel it down baby
For the morning never felt so
I start when the sun it falls
You whisper to my one that’s gone
So then about to take some scream

I swim through the river I saw
Swimming in the gushing stream 3 feet deep
I guess it’s why I didn’t hear you call
Caught up in the motions I can’t speak
Do you know that I am always ???
Illuminated in your call
I knew I never broke the law
Forever holding by your coast

I start when the morning comes
For the morning never felt so bright
Do you ever really feel it down baby
For the morning never felt so
I start when the sun it falls
You whisper to my one that’s gone
So then about to take some scream

Your love is a poison arrow through my heart
I try in vain to elude it
You paint me in your picture
Still me in your art
But have a branch won’t move it, hey, hey, hey

I start when the morning comes
For the morning never felt so bright
Do you ever really feel it down baby
For the morning never felt so
I start when the sun it falls
You whisper to my one that’s gone
So then about to take some scream
