Foxes – Don’t Stop Me Now

Foxes – Don’t Stop Me Now. Foxes‘ jazzy cover of Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now was one of many wonderful parts of last night’s fresh, exciting episode of Doctor Who. The BBC have now released the full version of her cover, with a music video that looks ahead to the rest of Series 8. The video features footage from last night’s episode, Mummy on the Orient Express (and thus contains some minor spoilers for those who haven’t seen the episode yet), but whilst you’re primarily here for the lovely ditty, there’s also a few tidbits from upcoming episodes – like this vista of London, covered in trees.

Foxes - Don't Stop Me Now
For Foxes, music isn’t just a hobby or a passing phase, it’s something she’s always wanted to do without really realising it. Her uniqueness comes not from stomping about making everyone aware of her – she’s been there and done that round Auntie Joan’s at Christmas – but from quietly and subtly making you fall in love with her songs. “I’m not desperate for the fame. I don’t want that part, I just want to make music,” she states firmly. “I’ve learnt so much this past year and now is the best time for me to be putting stuff out. I had a lot to learn and a lot of life experiences to go through and it’s a better album because of it. I’m more ready for it now. For whatever happens.” A quick pause, before she adds: “I want to make this sort of music for the rest of my life.” Something suggests she will do just that.

Foxes performs ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ on board the Orient Express – Doctor Who: Series 8 (2014) – BBC

Who was the young woman performing that sultry version of Don’t Stop Me Now on Doctor Who on Saturday night? It was Foxes, real name Louisa Rose Allen, the Grammy-award winning singer better known for the “experimental pop” of recent singles like Let Go For Tonight and Holding Onto Heaven. But In Mummy on the Orient Express she made the Queen classic her own with a ’20s jazz take onboard a train hurtling through space. “I really love the song and I loved the idea of a stripping it back and doing a jazz version,” says Foxes. “I don’t think anyone’s done that before.”

Foxes – Don’t Stop Me Now (Dr Who Performance)

Foxes – Don’t Stop Me Now Lyrics:
Tonight I’m gonna have myself a real good time
I feel alive and the world I’ll turn it inside out – yeah
And floating around in ecstasy
So don’t stop me now don’t stop me
‘Cause I’m having a good time having a good time

I’m a shooting star leaping through the sky
Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity
I’m a racing car passing by like Lady Godiva
I’m gonna go go go
There’s no stopping me

I’m burnin’ through the sky yeah
Two hundred degrees
That’s why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I’m trav’ling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic man out of you

Don’t stop me now I’m having such a good time
I’m having a ball
Don’t stop me now
If you wanna have a good time just give me a call
Don’t stop me now (‘Cause I’m having a good time)
Don’t stop me now (Yes I’m havin’ a good time)
I don’t want to stop at all

Yeah, I’m a rocket ship on my way to Mars
On a collision course
I am a satellite I’m out of control
I am a sex machine ready to reload
Like an atom bomb about to
Oh oh oh oh oh explode

I’m burnin’ through the sky yeah
Two hundred degrees
That’s why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I’m trav’ling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic woman of you

Don’t stop me don’t stop me
Don’t stop me hey hey hey
Don’t stop me don’t stop me
Ooh ooh ooh, I like it
Don’t stop me don’t stop me
Have a good time good time
Don’t stop me don’t stop me ah
Oh yeah
Alright

Oh, I’m burnin’ through the sky yeah
Two hundred degrees
That’s why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I’m trav’ling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic man out of you

Don’t stop me now I’m having such a good time
I’m having a ball
Don’t stop me now
If you wanna have a good time (wooh)
Just give me a call (alright)
Don’t stop me now (’cause I’m having a good time – yeah yeah)
Don’t stop me now (yes I’m havin’ a good time)
I don’t want to stop at all
La da da da daah
Da da da haa
Ha da da ha ha haaa
Ha da daa ha da da aaa
Ooh ooh ooh
