Los Angeles-based electronic-pop duoExes, comprised of singer Allie McDonald and producer Mike Derenzo (who also just recently produced up-and-coming artist Joni Payne’s newest single, “Contemporary Love”) have today unveiled the music video for their new single called “Grey”, a song about growing old with the one you love. The track also serves as the second single following “Quit” to be taken from their forthcoming 5-track debut EP, due out early next year.
In an email, EXES writes: “We are inspired by exes – whether they be people, places, or things from our past. Whether they haunt us or keep us warm at night, our EXES act as our muse and inspiration – not our want, but our NEED to write.”

With such a young, naive, and bright-eyed outlook on life, Allie’s music parallels her awkward, confusing, and real-life experiences with the male species. Creative, majestic and sometimes dark, her music infuses her innocent romantic escapades with refreshing and unique sounds. You will also hear echoes of her influences Florence and the Machine, Ingrid Michaelson, Kate Nash, Marina and the Diamonds, and Lily Allen to name a few. Besides her upcoming EP, Allie’s strength as an intelligent and versatile songwriter has her writing music for other artists and label projects, to genres ranging from soul to pop to hip-hop.
