Steven Christopher – Breathe

Steven Christopher – Breathe. Everyone has dreams and ambitions in life, but only a select few can clearly see the true vision of their dreams and make them a reality. Steven Christopher had a dream to become one of the top entertainers in the music world. With a creative energy shown through his vocals, charismatic personality, focused work ethic and a creative blend of hip hop, R&B and soul, 25 year old Steven Christopher’s unique sound is one you wont forget. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Steven Christopher had a love for music at a very young age. “Growin up, I heard music all the time. My mom would play the Jackson 5, Earth Wind and Fire and I couldn’t get away from Al Green songs if I tried! It made me appreciate old school r&b and eventually, I began mimicking what I’d hear, tryin’ to sound like those singers. Somethin’ just clicked. I was fascinated with how music could control emotions and make u feel things. From then on, it was a wrap. After moving to Atlanta at 17 Steven found himself writing for some of the industry’s top producers including his mentor Sham Sak Pase Joseph. With influences spanning Prince and Michael Jackson to Drake and Passion Pitt, Steven has over time developed his own brand of experimental R&B that is as hauntingly catchy as it is honest. Steven’s first single “Breathe”; a sonic gumbo of trap and traditional r&b, precedes his upcoming “LOVE HARD” EP.

Christopher opted for something cinematic to enhance the emotions of the song, allowing feelings to become massive. Shot in California’s Lucerne Valley, Stephen traveled from Atlanta, GA, to achieve that perfect setting. Being inspired by artistic visionaries like Kanye West, Steven’s goal was to give fans, something they’d never expect.

Steven Christopher – Breathe Lyrics:
Lost myself in an endless goodnight
Kept the time by the patterns of the streetlight
Couldn’t get it right, I could never get it right

Sadly, this is a wasted conversation
Lost on you, lost on you
This is a test of my patience
Your blue eyes are so cruel

I can’t escape all the things we’ve said
I’ve taken years off my life with the weight of regret
Now there’s nothing left
There is nothing left to lose

Shouldn’t I feel alright?
I swear that I tried to be alright
To sleep at night
Shouldn’t I feel alright?

The night fades with a breath of sunshine
I’ll do my best to adjust to the morning light
I can’t keep my place
(I can’t keep my place)
Feels like I’ve been awake for days

Sadly, you turn away, now I’m faced
With the harsh truth, the harsh truth
My cold heart is a place
Where true love cannot bloom

Shouldn’t I feel alright?
I swear that I tried to be alright
To sleep at night
Shouldn’t I feel alright?

There’s static on the airwaves
I’ll try to find the light through all of this haze
I can’t find the words that I’m trying to say
So try to forget me as I walk away

Well, there’s static on the airwaves
(Well, there’s static on the airwaves)
(We’ll shine, to fine, why waste the same)
Well, there’s static on the airwaves
(Well, there’s static on the airwaves)
(We’ll shine, to fine, why waste the same)
Try to forget me as I walk away

Shouldn’t I feel alright?
I swear that I tried to be alright
To sleep at night

Shouldn’t I feel alright?
I swear that I tried to be alright
To sleep at night
Shouldn’t I feel alright?
