Medicine Boy: E.V.I.L.

E.V.I.L. was written in 2015 and the duo describes it as one of the songs which just came naturally whilst playing around with riffs and ideas. Lucy came up with the first line and the basic melody and Andre coloured in the rest.

The video was shot at the end of March 2016 in a bar in Long Street, Cape Town and directed by Mark Leonard. It takes place in an in-between world where lost lovers have gathered and come to be saved/sacrificed/sabotaged/seduced. They are drawn together by an unlikely figure and find some kind of deliverance through giving in and letting go.

“We feel excited that people finally get to hear some new music and hope it makes them look forward to the whole album. We’ve never really been a ‘single’ band. We prefer listeners to take in the whole record but we are extremely happy with how the video and track came out and feel it’s a good first taste of things to come.”

Medicine Boy: E.V.I.L. Lyrics:
I wrote a letter to my love
I’m not sure that he ever really got it
I wrote a letter to my love
Perhaps it slipped out the back of his pocket

I shaped the weather for my love
‘Cause I know she likes to dance out in the thunder
I shaped the weather for my love
Well I guess that she was stuck in under cover

Broken promises
The state of all of this
And all I know forgiveness is for the weak
Can you see it? Can you feel it?
From the bruises on your belly to the scar on your cheek

I sent a feather to my love
Thought that maybe it fell out one of her wings
I sent a feather to my love
Sent it up there to her nest of shiny things

Broken promises
The state of all of this
And all I know forgiveness is for the weak
Can you see it? Can you feel it?
From the bruises on your belly to the scar on your cheek

E.V.I.L
We know you well
