Their debut single Ares, crafts a sound that is both familiar and unique, mixing layers of electro pop and indie with dark thrills from noisier genres. The journey since their launch in March 2014 has been packed full of surprises especially the interest shown by some of the industry’s heavyweights; Dermot O’Leary broadcast ‘Fire’ during his BBC show “a great track, very different I can’t wait to hear what you think” and Gill Mills on Amazing Radio, “I for one wouldn’t mind having a trek around Winters Island”. A growing list of blogs have also been quick to put keyboard to screen, ‘all we can decipher is that they are three human beings who make some of the most interesting and invigorating music we’ve heard for a long time’ – BandXBass. With summer festival appearances at Brownstock and Kendall Calling under their belts, a debut EP on the horizon and shows scheduled all over the country Winters Island have a busy year ahead.
Winters Island managed to perfectly execute the blend of a full on commercial Dance track with that of a full on indie pop track. There are times where I’m thinking The Wombats and then I’m thinking Calvin Harris – neither the kind you’d put together aside from a remix perhaps, yet, somehow, Winters Island have hit the nail on the head with this concoction. This track, Ares, is due for release on April 6th.
