Wardell – Dancing on the Freeway

Sasha and Theo are brother and sister. While they draw from a wide range of influences, their music is best informed by the history of two people who grew up sharing a wall: summery Los Angeles weather, the simultaneous comfort and rivalry of family, and just the right hint of nostalgia. The first song the band wrote together, “Opossum”, is also their first introduction to the world. Featured everywhere from NPR’s Song of the Day to NME’s Buzz List, “Opossum” is just a taste of what’s to come. Wardell’s debut EP will be released this spring through National Anthem, and they’re hard at work on a full-length album scheduled for 2014.

Wardell – Dancing on the Freeway

‘Dancing on the Freeway’ is their third, a track that circuits ‘Rumors’-era Fleetwood while getting by on muted guitar musings and uplifting major keys. It’s been unveiled alongside the note: “From the forthcoming 2014 full-length album by Wardell,”

Wardell – Dancing on the Freeway Lyrics:
You were Dancing on the Freeway
Going fast and now you’re far
But you guess about it anyway
All that matters is when we’re loved

And I, and you, you wanna feel it on tonight
You were DANCING ON THE FREEWAY
Being scared, afraid, passing mine
And we’re talking off, we’re not afraid
In a world where nothing’s right

And you, you wanna feel it on, you dance
And me, I would have done the same for you

Now we speed down the highway
Now I’m holding up the 405
We would think again for harder ways
Why don’t you dance like you’re not shy?

And I, and you, you wanna feel it on tonight
And I, and me, I would have done the same for you

Here take me, we were thinking of the freeway
It’s gonna turn us away
Here we were take the crown, we would make
We could not have faked
Moving all around, a surprise
Here we were take the crown, we would make
We could not have faked
Moving all around, a surprise.
