Vérité – Weekend

Rising New York City songbird VÉRITÉ was just getting warmed up with “Strange Enough,” the debut single that caught the online world’s imagination in July. She’s back with new offering “Weekend,” which, if you just stick to the surface, will likely keep the Ellie Goulding and Lana Del Rey comparisons coming. But listen a little closer and you’ll hear a singer-songwriter with a knack for savvy lyrics and attention-grabbing melodies on the verge of breaking out big. VÉRITÉ describes her latest single this way: “Conceptually it came from a snapshot of a scenario. An old friend of mine lived on this quiet, dead end residential street with bright florescent lights. I had the image of us falling down in the stillness of the scene. From the first line, the song winds up being an ode to the nostalgia of how, despite how sick we were or how insane things get, we can take moments from the craziest times and glorify them as being absolutely perfect.”

Vérité – Weekend

Written by VÉRITÉ and Elliot Jacobson. Produced by Elliot Jacobson. Mixed and Mastered by Mike Tuccillo.

Pop artists tend to be a bit top heavy with their music; it’s usually their first song that sticks in fans’ minds. VÉRITÉ is different. The New York songstress caught our attention not so long ago with her powerful debut single, “Strange Enough.” She’s back today with “Weekend,” a sophomore offering brimming with so much pop majesty we’d be surprised if she didn’t have an album’s worth of gems locked and loaded.

Vérité – Weekend Lyrics:
You can drive your fast car
through the village ‘til you die
or you could take another deep breathe swingin’
for the days I could watch you run
through the white lighted streets
where the houses stay the same
where we could drink
‘til we’d never remember our names

You can bring me to life
You can bring me to life

So we can hang our noose
under stars bright
ready to glow
and we can fall in love for the weekend
We’re on the edge baby
two hearts starting to slow
and we can fall in love for the weekend
Oh.

We can dream in white hot
color in ecstasy we’ll fade
into the silence of our
dead night freezing
When the smoke cleared
I awoke here
caught in the patterns of the mess
that we’ve been making
We can play pretend ‘til it gets dark
and count the seconds until everything falls apart

You can bring me to life
You can bring me to life

So we can hang our noose
under stars bright
ready to glow
and we can fall in love for the weekend
We’re on the edge baby
two hearts starting to slow
and we can fall in love for the weekend
Oh.

Cause we’re the new kids
waiting on the edge
and we’re ready to go
And we could fall in love for the weekend
We’re on the edge of a shotgun
ready to blow
And we can fall in love for the weekend
Just give me one shot in my veins
and I’ll be ready to love
so we can fall in love for the weekend
You know I’m trying too hard
but it isn’t enough
So we could fall in love for the weekend
oh.

So we can hang our noose
under stars bright
ready to glow
and we can fall in love for the weekend
We’re on the edge baby
two hearts starting to slow
and we can fall in love for the weekend
Oh.
Cause we’re the new kids
waiting on the edge
and we’re ready to go
And we could fall in love for the weekend
We’re on the edge of a shotgun
ready to blow
And we can fall in love for the weekend
oh.
