These Reigning Days – Too Late

“What an interesting band “These Reigning Days” are. Their music is extremely textured with many, many layers and is so epic, it immediately makes you think it should be in a film and probably one on a giant screen, at that. Theirs is no prissy, polite excuse for rock music. It’s powerful, within “Joe Sansone” one of the most powerful drum sounds I have heard in years. Johnny Finnis, the bass player, provides a really solid, yet dextrous carpet and between bass and drums, the two of them build an amazing foundation on which the music is built. Dan Steer, who is the song writer, lead vocalist, keyboard player and guitarist bit of the band, is kept really busy, but copes with his workload more than admirably. His sharp, acidic guitar sails above the music and his vocals cut through that to make for a really exciting sound.”

“There is a greater swagger to Too Late compared to anything else that they have released so far and it is a track that hooks from the opening chords. Too Late is a track with a real energy from start to finish and there is an anthemic quality to the song – it is one of those tracks that you know will sound terrific live. Too Late is the most exciting track that These Reigning Days have released so far and it is not surprising that there are some great things being said about this band at the moment. If they keep on producing tracks like this their album is going to be one not to miss this year.” Femail First

These Reigning Days – Too Late lyrics

And so it is.
Apparent from the start
I should have kissed you
And buried your broken heart

And so it is
The fairy tale begins
I’m not like you. I should have buried your lies and sins

It’s too late for a wedding
And it’s a long way home
It’s a long way home
I’m still dreading the tears in her eyes
The tears in her eyes.

Set sail for the sunrise and I’ll meet her again
I’ll be with her again
It’ll do for the meantime.
It’ll do for the meantime.

And so it is
The bride and groom set sail
Man overboard, an ending to his tail.

It’s too late for a wedding
And it’s a long way home
It’s a long way home
I’m still dreading the tears in her eyes
The tears in her eyes.

Set sail for the sunrise and I’ll meet her again
I’ll be with her again
It’ll do for the meantime.
It’ll do for the meantime.
