Sugar Ray is an American band formed in 1986. The band, starting off more as a funk metal band, first gained fame in 1997 with their release of the song “Fly”. This song’s success, coupled with its pop rock sound that was quite different from the rest of their material at the time, led the band to change to a mainstream, pop music style. Subsequent albums shared this similar style, and the band landed a number of hits with “Every Morning”, “Someday”, and “When It’s Over”.
Sugar Ray – Someday (Official Music Video)
Sugar Ray is best known for their pop-reggae hit Fly and hot lead singer Mark McGrath. Before they changed their name, band mates Mark McGrath, Rodney Sheppard on guitar, Murphy Karges on bass, Stan Frazier on drums and Craig “DJ Homicide” Bullock on turntables, were known as Shrinky Dinx. (Shrinky Dinks were those plastic toys you bake in the oven to make stained glass.) They had to change their quirky name cuz the toy company, Milton Bradley, threatened them with a lawsuit. They chose Sugar Ray because they all admired boxer Sugar Ray Leonard.
Sugar Ray – Someday Lyrics:
Someday. When my life has passed me by.
I lay around and wonder why you were always there for me.
One way. In the eyes of a passerby.
I look around for another try.
And fade away.
Just close your eyes and I’ll take you there
This place is warm without a care
We’ll take a swim in the deep blue sea
I go to leave and you reach for me
Some say
Better things will come our way
No matter what they try to say
You were always there for me
Someway. When the sun begins to shine
I hear a song from.
Another time. And fade away. And fade away.
Just close your eyes and I’ll take you there
This place is warm, without a care
We’ll take a swim in the deep blue sea
I go to leave and you reach for me
Someone said you tried to long
Someone said we got it all
Someone said we tried to long
Is there a place where I belong
So far, so long. So far away.
So far, so wrong. So far away.
Away, away.
Someday when my life has passed me by
I’ll lay around and wonder why you were always there for me
One way. In the eyes of a passerby.
I’ll look around for another try and fade away.
And fade away. And fade away.
And fade away. And fade away.
And fade away. And fade away.
And fade away. And fade away.
And fade away.
