Going to the movies, talking to friends, doting on her Yorkie terrier: in many ways New York City -based singer-songwriter Sonali Argade is a typical teenage girl. But this assumption vanishes as soon as the music begins. In February 2012, Sonali showcased a dynamic mix of sparkling songs, energetic performances and auspicious vocal authority on her debut EP Speechless. The EP served as the introduction to an emerging artist on the edge of ascension, a performer, guitarist and songwriter whose mastery of pop song craft reaches far beyond any chronological age. Music came early: Sonali began humming before she could speak, and she scribbled away at her own versions of song lyrics long before she could write as she was instinctively drawn into the avocation that she discovered on her own. Fortunately, her parents were supportive. “I am inspired mostly by my family,” she says. “I base everything I do on the way they act, and how caring they are.” A multi-instrumentalist who plays keyboard, drums and bass, Sonali is a scorching lead guitarist who wields an impressive arsenal of instruments. Although her favorite genres include her favorite metal bands, her own music is defined by the accessibility and optimism that mirrors her sunny and upbeat personality.
Sonali – September
Sonali – September Lyrics:
I knew it was over before it began,
but I stayed with you anyway that’s the kind of girl I am.
I pulled you closer, the sun shined in.
It’s funny how the same mistakes go round and round again.
You thought that I would never leave you,
but someone had to change.
Someone had to change.
September came,
and brought the fall,
but I’m not falling for you,
I’m not falling for you, no.
You say you’re not like you were before,
but I’m not falling for you,
I’m not falling for you anymore.
As soon as it died, I see you trying,
but like the sun I’m set and I don’t need to look into your eyes.
You know that I’ve tried, but I’m not buying,
so I’ll be on my way and you can carry on tonight.
I thought my life revolved around you,
but now I see the light.
September came,
and brought the fall,
but I’m not falling for you,
I’m not falling for you, no.
You say you’re not like you were before,
but I’m not falling for you.
And now that I see,
the way it can be,
it’s setting me free.
I’m not the same,
now that the leaves are turning.
It’s changing the way,
changing the way I’m feeling.
And I’m feeling free.
September came,
and brought the fall,
but I’m not falling for you,
I’m not falling for you.
You say you’re not like you were before,
but I’m not falling for you,
I’m not falling for you anymore.
Anymore,
I’m not falling for you,
I’m not falling for you anymore.
I’m not falling.
I need more.
