Siska: Need U Badly

Siska’s hauntingly sonorous ‘Need U Badly’, here, receives some electronic remix treatment from rising producers Tom Fire and Jim Henderson. With Siska’s original holding a veritable treasure trove of textures, melodies and atmospheres, the remixes were inevitably as fascinatingly sensational. Tom Fire’s clunking hip hop beat, kicks things off. A grooving piece of head nodding, dancefloor ready, club music. Siska’s vocals have been intensely tuned and shadowed by a vocoder voice, bringing a new melodic dynamic to the original, calling to mind Minneapolis’ Poliça or Kiiara.

The raw kicks roll alongside a deep bassline, that beautifully complements the key changes in Siska’s vocals. A moombahton style synth line heralds the arrival of the chorus, allowing us to loose ourselves in this perfectly crafted restrained pop banger.

In Jim Henderson’s reimaging of ‘Need U Baby’, the track is transformed into an emotive house cut, with a sense of urgency that effortlessly references the originals unsettled mood. Siska’s vocals are drawn out over warm, rising pads and soft crunching percussion. Henderson employs an ever shifting orchestra of textures to build epic drops, which burst into euphoric rhapsody as elements are withdrawn and reintroduced.

The final section of this piece embodies emotion, passion and just down-right skilled production; a true cinematic composition that could only otherwise be accomplished by the likes of Trentmøller and Max Cooper.

The remixes exquisitely complement the prolific French singer’s album ‘A Woman’s Tale’, mirroring many of the emotive themes, so abundantly present in Siska’s work. Euphoria, fear and personal angst all play a part, as Siska voices her worries, loves and inner demons. Often her lamenting tones can be drawn akin to acts such as Portished, distant and dark, always maintaining an air of eerie of uncertainty. ‘A Woman’s Tale’ is a triumphant and impeccable revelation in forward thinking trip-hop.

Siska: Need U Badly Lyrics:
Never mind what’s happenin’ in my brain
In love my heart is not insane
I feel there are no more chains
I love that’s what I claim

And when darkness impresses the night
I know we’re gonna fight
Don’t be sorry I’ll be ready
Don’t be sorry I’ll be your seed
Whenever you need

I need you badly…
I need you bad that’s what I claim

I push myself into emergency
Deep inside of me I find the key
I have to stay I have to pray
To get the key of harmony

And when darkness impresses the night
We’ll stand up till the morning light
Don’t be sorry I’ll be ready
Don’t be sorry I’ll be your seed
Whenever you need

I need you badly…
I need you bad that’s what I claim
