Scavenger Hunt is the brainchild of producer/multi-instrumentalist Dan Mufson, and vocalist/songwriter Jill Lamoureux. Jill grew up singing in competitive travel choirs, performing music theater, and dancing alone in her bedroom to Whitney Houston and Veruca Salt. Dan grew up obsessed with all things Back to the Future, cruising around Philly blasting The Chemical Brothers and Silverchair. How could either have known that years later, in sunny California, their worlds would collide in electro-pop destiny. As fate would have it, one night in 2013 Mufson saw and heard Lamoureux, herself a California transplant from Wichita, KS performing live in Hollywood. He was transfixed by her haunting vocals and approached her after the show. Soon the two were inseparable in the studio, writing music for television commercials, which quickly led to writing songs.
They discovered their eerily similar tastes in music spanning many eras and genres, and started creating their own sound, influenced by their shared love of 80s/90s pop and R&B, but with a distinctly fresh, modern vibe. The band’s name, comes from an idea Dan had shortly after moving to LA. He felt that everywhere you go, and with every person you meet, come new opportunities. Navigating the business of Los Angeles felt like a scavenger hunt to success- where any circumstance could increase the odds of achieving a goal, or helping someone along the way. Thus, after meeting Jill and deciding to form a band, they called it Scavenger Hunt. Scavenger Hunt is an ode to things past and present and future, with influences such as Fleetwood Mac, Annie Lennox, Sade, Simple Minds, Robyn and Dev Hynes.

Since their inception in late 2013, the duo-turned 4 piece led by the compelling Jill Lamoureux has performed with Capital Cities, Haerts, Broods and at LA’s 2014 Made in America Festival. Their self-released EP debuted at #49 on Billboard’s Heatseekers charts. Their singles “Lost” and “Dreamers” have been featured in campaigns for Estee Lauder, Virgin Mobile, Hollister, and featured in numerous NBC, CBS, ABC and Bravo network programs. “Lost” (Lenno Remix) reached #1 on HypeMachine’s popular remix chart, #2 on the popular chart. The band has received critical acclaim from popular blogs such as Pigeons and Planes, Dancing Astronaut and Indie Shuffle.
