Mélat – Rockabye

Born in Austin, Texas, Mélat is the emerging eclectic soul of modern RnB. The daughter of Ethiopian immigrants, Mélat tells a story that is both challenging and inspiring rooted in her very own life experiences. Coming from a meager background with English as a second language, Mélat’s music is pure and honest. It is a reflection of her soul. From love, lust, success, to failure Mélat sings of what it means to be a human being simply longing to “be”.

The Austin, TX songstress continues her Side B series with its sixth track, as well as this message:
“What started off as a tweet on a dreary winter day turned into a full song of reflection of my life. The final word of this song is ‘you’, although I didn’t sing it. For me this is a true story. ‘Rockabye’ represents the fear and security that comes with loving without boundaries.”

Mélat – Rockabye Lyrics:
I’m not sure where dreams go to die
Doing everything to keep mine alive (with you)
Softly accuse
Love me, confuse me,
No lie
I hate saying goodnight to you.

Rockabye
Rockabye
Rockabye baby

I have failed
I have fought
I have found.

Sitting in stillness
I get lost in my thoughts
Listening to the drizzling rain
Window pane
Window pane
You saw through me like a window pane
I was scared and I still am
Save me when the rain comes flooding in.
