Linus Young – City of Sin. Probably one of the best debut singles we’ve heard all year comes of Linus Young, an LA boy-girl duo that splashes onto the scene with the brilliant “City of Sin“. Lyrically and visually about the city of sins, shot in the deserts of the Las Vegas Valley in Nevada, the song is a light indie rock jam. What makes it really interesting is the hints of r&b and the drum pattern (which weirdly reminds us of The Knife’s Tomorrow, In A Year) It’s light but has a bit of punch, it’s raw yet slick and yes, it’s amazing. With it comes an astonishing video that simply screams for a million views within the next few days.
Linus Young – City of Sin
Even though the talent is obviously present when you hear City of Sin, let’s do some name-dropping to convince you that Linus Young are actually a really, really big deal. Produced and developed by Malay (the brain behind Frank Ocean), mixed by Manny Marroquin (Kanye West, The Weeknd, John Mayer, Lana Del Rey, list goes on forever), drums by Matt Chamberlain (Frank Ocean, Jamie Lidell, Miguel, Marina & the Diamonds, Mika, also endless list) and more.
