Kimberly Anne describes her music as ‘acoustic pop married to indie, whilst having a love affair with Afro/Caribbean and Brazilian rhythms.’ Confused? So was she when trying to find a sound that best represented the influences she was surrounded by growing up in a musical playground, from Van Morrison to Mary J Blige. Kimberly came to know her parents’ record collection so well, they almost felt like extended family relatives.
After teaching herself to play the guitar, learning songs by The Cure and Bloc Party, and venturing to study percussion in West Africa, Kimberly Anne is creating music championed by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and XFM, and garnering support slots with the likes of Jake Bugg, First Aid Kit and Haim.
