Jarryd James – Do You Remember

The Brisbane singer-songwriter Jarryd James has locked in his debut Australian headline tour, playing three East Coast shows in April. Fresh from supporting Angus & Julia Stone on a massive national tour, Jarryd James has been gaining buzz off the back of ‘Do You Remember’, co-written with producer Joel Little and there’s more to come. “We’ve only really done that one song, the other songs that I’ve heard of his [are] amazing too,” Little told Kingsmill recently, saying there’s more collaborations to come in his busy CV (also featuring new stuff from Lorde & Broods). “We’re going to start writing some more songs – in March, maybe;” he adds. Maybe we’ll get to hear some of that new material on the road?

Jarryd James - Do You Remember

Pained, heartbreaking and so, so musically delicious, Jarryd James has set a high bar for his career and instantly won me over with his tragedy of a jam. Dealing with the impact of broken love, the paralyzing effect of inaction and running a good gamut of typical post-breakup thoughts, the content of this song is instantly relate-able to anyone who has suffered a broken heart. Can’t you almost feel the tears through silky falsetto?

A set of sounds—if not a precise genre—seems to be cohering, with artists like Australian newcomer Jarryd James finding ways to combine pop sensibility with interesting sounds. Debut single “Do You Remember” feels like a tastefully subdued cousin of AWOLNation’s hit “Sail,” plucked strings and deliberate percussion building to an excellent chorus. A promising start.

Jarryd James – Do You Remember

Jarryd James – Do You Remember Lyrics:
When did we lose our way?
Easier to let it go
So many content than anybody
Harder to let you know
Call me when you’ve made up your mind but you won’t
Caught up in the way that you break my heart
Only love could ever hit this hard

Oh, don’t be scared about it
Do you forgive my spill?
Do you remember the way it did you feel?
Do you remember the things that let you feel?

How do I make you stay?
When it’s easier to let you go,
Nobody knows what we know about it
No one needs to know
Call me when you’ve made up your mind but you won’t
Caught up in a way that you break my heart
Only love could ever hit this hard

Oh, don’t be scared about it
Do you forgive my spill?
Do you remember the way it did you feel?
Do you remember the things that let you feel?

When your life’s to your limit
You gave all your killing
Who you’re gonna pray to when you’re there?
When you find out that there ain’t no other love
No other love for you

Oh, don’t be scared about it
Do you forgive my spill?
Do you remember the way it did you feel?
Do you remember the things that let you feel?

Oh, when you think about it
Do you remember me?
Do you remember the way it made you feel?
Do you remember the things that let you feel?
