Elliot Moss: Slip

Elliot Moss is a multi-instrumentalist songwriter, producer, and visual artist from New York. He released his debut album Highspeeds in 2014, which was played, recorded, and mixed primarily by himself. In 2014, Moss started booking shows with his five-man band, covering material from both Highspeeds and songs from a new album scheduled for release in 2015. Moss has played in support of Cold War Kids, Digitalism, and Nada Surf, and has performed at venues such as CMJ, Music Hall of Williamsburg, and he played at SXSW in March of 2015. Sean Moeller’s Paste magazine review of the 2014 CMJ fest called Moss “as great as I wanted him to be,” and New Music Nashville described his music as “smooth-as-they-come alternative electronic beats.”

His song “Slip” was featured on Sonic Breakfast’s “Top Ten Songs of 2014” list. Hilly Dilly said that the song “just might be the very definition of a hidden gem,” and The Musicality described the song as the “definition of a gem. The electro effects on his voice and the dark synths combine to make a track that is a laid back, slow jam with elements of cool jazz.” In 2014, his music was featured in an episode of the MTV series Finding Carter. In October, 2014 Moss signed with the booking company AM Only. Wikipedia®.

Elliot Moss: Slip

Precocious New York polymath Elliot Moss has far too much of the blues for a kid with such a positive buzz around him. His debut album HIGHSPEEDS caught ears in both the indie and electronic worlds last year, furthered by i.am.me dance crew members Phillip Chbeeb and Renee Kester taking his tune “Slip” viral with a video of them performing a dance routine in a subway station. Now it’s Moss’ turn to provide a visual narrative to “Slip.” Director David Svedosh take a meditative take on a girl’s walk from the city to nature, where she promptly dives under the weight of the tune and is washed clean. The moody, soulful track tiptoes between so many sounds––indie, blues, chillwave, jazz––but wrought together electronically with an organic touch. Fans of Jamie xx and Chet Faker take note! – THUMP

Elliot Moss: Slip Lyrics:
I won’t keep watching you
Dance around in your smoke
And flicker out
You’re not the light I used to know

I don’t believe in safety nets
Strung aloft, make it alright to let go
You gotta hold on

Or it’s gonna slip, slip, slip though your
Slip, slip, slip through your hands

Or it’s gonna slip, slip, slip though your
Slip, slip, slip through your hands

Or it’s gonna slip, slip, slip though your
Slip, slip, slip through your hands

What’s the matter?
You don’t have enough rain
To make up your storm
Ooooh
What you look so sad for?
Where’s the light I used to know-oh-oh

Or it’s gonna slip, slip, slip though your
Slip, slip, slip through your hands
Whoa-whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
Or it’s gonna slip, slip, slip though your
Slip, slip, slip through your haaaand

Where’s that light I used to know
Where’s that light I used to know
Where’s that light I used to know
Where’s the light I used to knoooow-oh?

Slip Slip slip through your hands

Or it’s gonna slip, slip, slip though your
Slip, slip, slip through your hands
Whoa-whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
Or it’s gonna slip, slip, slip though your
Slip, slip, slip through your hands
Whoa-whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
Or it’s gonna slip, slip, slip though your
Slip, slip, slip through your hands

Oh oh oh-whoaaa
whoa oh oh oh whoa-oh-oh
whoa whoa oh whoa oh
