Daley – Those Who Wait

Gareth Daley (born 29 September 1989), known professionally as Daley, is a British singer-songwriter from Manchester, signed to Polydor Records in the UK and Universal Republic Records in the US. Daley began as an independent artist in the industry, building a reputation for himself by showcasing his melodic vocal style, flair for songwriting and vocal arrangement with a number of small gigs in and around the United Kingdom. In October 2010, he received his mainstream breakthrough when he became the guest vocalist on the top forty Gorillaz hit, “Doncamatic”. The track was released on 22 November 2010, and was later added to a re-release of the Gorillaz’ album, Plastic Beach. In an interview with NME, Daley stated that he and band frontman Damon Albarn co-wrote the single together. On 20 November 2010, Daley performed the song solo in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. This gained him industry recognition, and shortly after, he signed a joint record deal with Universal Republic Records and Polydor, to market his music on both sides of the pond. In early 2011, Daley was asked by British rapper Wretch 32 to appear on his own debut record, Black and White, and together, the pair wrote the album’s second promotional single, “Long Way Home”. This gained him further recognition, and shortly after, he was shortlisted for the BBC’s Sound of 2011 poll, which in turn, meant that several BBC Radio DJs, including Ras Kwame, MistaJam, Ronnie Herel, Jo Whiley and Sam Walker, picked up on his music, and began promoting his debut single, “Smoking Gun”, with radio airplay. Due to its radio popularity, “Smoking Gun” was commissioned to receive a music video. On 22 July, “Broken'” (the first single from Days & Nights and Daley’s second official UK single) premiered on BBC Radio 1Xtra. Wikipedia®.

Daley – Those Who Wait – (Secret Show Live)

Daley – Those Who Wait Lyrics:
When I was a boy
I was always caught in the middle
I was never a winner
Just a loner in the crowd
Looking for a way out

Then I grew a little older
And a little bolder
I grew impatient
The future I was chasing
Never seemed to be within my reach
Til I heard somebody say

(Slow, slow down…)
Nothing’s gonna happen before it’s time
(Slow, slow down…)
Let the pieces fall into place and you’ll be fine

[Chorus:]
Take your time
So I’m waiting,
Cause I know I’m gonna be
Next in line
To claim my prize, and be all that I wanna be
I work so hard to earn my place
And good things come to those who wait

So made it out, eventually
I took the leap
And I landed on my feet
Yeah I found my team, my family
And as I chase this dream
I know that they believe in me
And we’re onto something good (I know)
We’re bout to conquer this world
I’m so glad that I
Took my own time
I’m glad I did it the right way

(Slow, slow down…)
Now I listen to my instincts when I lose my way
(Slow, slow down…)
And that’s when they say

[Chorus:]
Take your time
So I’m waiting,
Cause I know I’m gonna be
Next in line
To claim my prize, and be all that I wanna be
I work so hard to earn my place
And good things come to those who wait

Now I know if I died tomorrow
I wouldn’t regret a single thing
I wanna look back on where I’ve been
And know that I made, my own way
That I lived each day, and owned it
Working for that good thing, that good thing

[Chorus:]
Take your time
So I’m waiting,
Cause I know I’m gonna be
Next in line
To claim my prize, and be all that I wanna be
I work so hard to earn my place
And good things come to those who wait

Good things, those who wait
I appreciate those who wait
Thank you to those who wait
Good things come.
