Cajsa Siik – Higher

Cajsa Siik – Higher. Cajsa Siik was born in a fishing village outside the town of Umeå in the north of Sweden. Here she ventured on her musical path which has lead her to Stockholm, her new hometown. Besides writing her own music, Cajsa Siik’s vocals and cello playing has been a feature for acts including Birgit Bidder, Montt Mardié, Amanda King (AUS) and Jörgen Kjellgren (Oh Laura). In spring 2010 Cajsa Siik left Stockholm for the heart of Sevilla where she rented a quiet room above a flamenco bar. She locked herself in to write. Two months later she returned to Sweden with the makings of a hauntingly beautiful and honest album. Produced by Cajsa Siik and Henrik Åström, December 2012 marked the release of her debut album “Plastic House” which was brought to its completion by Andreas Dahlbäck (Anna Ternheim, Tomas Andersson Wij).

Previous to this, Siik released her debut single in August 2012; ”Was I Supposed To”, to critical acclaim. The single rotated on national Swedish Radio P3 and international stations such as Insomnia Radio (US) and Amazing Radio (UK) soon picked up on the hype. The video for the song was released on September 11th by Sweden’s major trend music magazine GAFFA. Cajsa also unleashed a college radio campaign in the US through AAM, which lead to airplay all over the country as she toured successfully throughout Germany. The single Relentless Delight, with its pulsating, dark drum sound, combined with Cajsa Siik’s characteristic powerful and at the same time fragile vocals was released in Sweden on May 12th 2014, and invites you to join an evocative world. It is produced by Cajsa together with Calle Ekerstam and Rolf Klinth (Tiger Lou etc), as is the subsequent full length album “Contra”.

Cajsa Siik is a Swedish artist hailing all the way from Stockholm. Her music has already been included in various American shows, such as The Michael J Fox Show, Awkward, Degrassi and Ravenswood. She has also recently teamed up with Calle Ekerstam and Tiger Lou producer Rolf Klinth, in order to work on and co-produce her new song Higher. Higher is the second single taken out of her upcoming new album Contra. Having had her first single Relentless Delight pushed and supported by the likes of NME, Clash and Indie Shuffle, the latest single had to be a worthy follow-up. Luckily Higher is a great example of bringing the essence of art-pop to its full notion and restlessness. Cajsa Siik knows exactly how to remain sonically insatiable whilst still giving her listeners a solid foothold. Her sensual vocals are a clear contrast to the enigmatic and textured arrangements.

They fit perfectly with the minimalistic orchestration that supports her every word from the very first bar. The overall production is contained yet exciting, with a steady rhythm pulsating in the background resembling somewhat Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know. The hand-tapping beats and Cajsa Siik’s captivating lyrics both leave the listener charmed and incapable of resisting the repeat button.

Cajsa Siik – Higher Lyrics:
What If a dream could tell me how
What If a minute was forever
Now I’m climbing out of my mind
Now I can sense you even better

Crystals in an open sky
Lucy left to figure out
Higher
I can feel it coming down
It all makes sense when you’re around
Higher

I was floating on my back
Can you see what I see
When nothing’s holding us back
Can you feel what I feel

Once upon a time you see
Someone taught you how to breathe
Higher
No one told us to forget
We made love without regret
Higher

Thats my heart to

Crystals in an open sky
Lucy left to figure out
Higher
I can feel it coming down
It all makes sense when you’re around
Higher
Once upon a time you see
Someone taught you how to breathe
Higher
No one told us to forget
We made love without regret
Higher…
