August Alsina – Dont Forget About Me

August Anthony Alsina, Jr. (born September 3, 1992) is an American hip-hop singer from New Orleans signed to Radio Killa Records and Def Jam Recordings. Alsina was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended middle school in New Orleans. Although no one in his family was musically inclined, he was inspired to sing by Lauryn Hill in Sister Act 2. Alsina first uploaded videos to YouTube in 2007 at age 14, starting with a cover of “Hypothetically” by Lyfe Jennings. With both his father and stepfather battling crack cocaine addiction, Alsina’s mother moved Alsina to Houston, Texas in search of a fresh start after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Then, Alsina’s father died. Alsina had disagreements with his mother at some point and was “kicked out.” After his older brother, Melvin La’Branch III, was shot and killed on August 31, 2010, he became more committed to his music, and relocated to Atlanta in 2011. His first mixtape release The Product was released in April 2012, though an “Untitled” mixtape with six acoustic covers premiered in October 2011. His single “I Luv This Shit” (featuring Trinidad James) was released in January 2013, and his mixtape The Product 2 followed in May 2013. The EP Downtown: Life Under the Gun was released on August 20, 2013, with a video for “Hell on Earth” released the following month. In December 2013, the lead single from his debut album, “Ghetto” featuring Rich Homie Quan, was serviced to radio and it was the most added song on urban radio the week ending December 12, 2013. August Alsina – Dont Forget About Me Lyrics:
Don’t forget about me. Don’t forget about me. Don’t forget about me

I’ll never forget where I come from, I’m from the bottom
The shoes on my feet, remember how I got’em
When I didn’t have a car
I was on the bus stop, when I needed cash
I was selling crack rock
Didn’t have a lot
But a nigga had enough
Had to keep it moving when the going got tough
It was bad y’all
Lost some niggas on the way, it’s sad y’all
They couldn’t make it
Here today

Now I do it for my homies
That’ll never get to do it
And I do it for the mamas
Trying to make it on they own
Yeah I do it for the thugs
Only you like that
I’mma do it for New Orleans
Couldn’t do it all alone
Believe it, while I’m out here on the ground
Looking out for me
All my homies saying
Y’all don’t forget about me
I’m just trying to shine
And see what I can be
Cause I leave them saying
Aug, don’t forget about me

Don’t forget about the hard nights
Don’t forget about the downtown street lights
Don’t forget about your brother
Don’t forget about his daughters
Don’t forget your little nieces growing up without a father
And son remember mama
Remember all the nights she had to put up with your
Drama
And for anybody else who’s saying don’t forget you
My sister just be unforgettable

Now I do it for my homies
That’ll never get to do it
And I do it for the mamas
Trying to make it on they own
Yeah I do it for the thugs
Only you like that
I’mma do it for New Orleans
Couldn’t do it all alone
Believe it, while I’m out here on the ground
Looking out for me
All my homies saying
Y’all don’t forget about me
I’m just trying to shine
And see what I can be
Cause I leave them saying
Aug, don’t forget about me.
