London-based electro-R&B boy/girl duo 4am follow up their highly praised debut release ‘More’ with ‘Yearning & Calling’ – a stunning second effort that perhaps overshadows their original release. Sonically, it has strong desires to go bigger than it does, but thanks to those crystalline, delicate vocals, it remains restrained but with an added richness that an instrumental alone wouldn’t be able to accomplish. In the last year or so, I’ve become absolutely obsessed with another London-based duo The Code. 4am and ‘Yearning…’ follow in a similar vein as The Code but with a stronger emphasis on the vocals.
4am: Yearning & Calling
4am: Yearning & Calling Lyrics:
late at night I’m thinking bout you all the time
laying here awake almost every night
if I call would you pick up the phone?
i know it’s late but I can’t be alone
cause when the music turns down, and the lights go out and your body lays down what you left with now
yearning and calling, yearning and calling, yearning and calling, yearning and calling out
laying in the dark until the morning light
i know you’re out of sight but never out of mind
can’t fall asleep until I hear your voice
my heart is burning I don’t have a choice
cause when the music turns down, and the lights go out and your body lays down what you left with now
yearning and calling, yearning and calling, yearning and calling, yearning and calling out
Yearning & Calling (repeated)
